Be the lighthouse. 11/29/25

The lighthouse is not just a source of light. A lighthouse casts its light through stormy weather, provides shelter to those who occupy its space. Often isolated, lighthouses stand alone against the forces of nature. Symbolizing the strength that we must find within and the self-reliance to weather challenges we face as individuals. Focus and consistency, remain focused on our core purpose and values as does the lighthouse. Place value in consistency and dependability to our relationships and commitments. "Be the lighthouse that bears the torment of the storm, but never forget to show the saving lights of life." - Debasish Mridha

The lighthouse does not chase the ships; it stands exactly where it is needed. As a leader, you must be grounded in your values and your goals, no wavering, unreactive to the circumstances thrown at you. To be the lighthouse is to be the light that guides the way for others. When you know your why, you stop searching for approval. Purpose brings stillness. Stillness is not inactivity. “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way.” - John C. Maxwell. The lighthouse is motionless, yet its presence shapes the environment around it. It offers clear direction, reveals what is otherwise hidden, and creates safety for others. A leader’s clarity comes from constraint. You cannot shine everywhere at once. You choose the hill you will die on, the values you will defend, and the work you’ll commit to, even when it’s inconvenient. Your steadfastness means nothing if it only holds in calm weather.

The lighthouse teaches us, resilience is not loud, and guidance is not forceful. It is the quiet discipline of standing where you are called to stand, holding and shining your light with intention, and actively living by your values especially when nobody is looking. When we are the lighthouse we don’t just endure the storm, we become a source of direction for everyone navigating their own storm.

“Be like the rock that the waves keep crashing over. It stands unmoved and the raging of the sea falls still around it” - Marcus Aurelius.
